"Activia"- more calories than low fat/no sugar yogurt - Do the extra calories even matter?

Which is healthier?Also, activia claims to be the only yogurt with a certain kind of live bacteria in it, but other yogurts have live bacteria too. What's the difference?Thx a mill.

yes they do...girl listen, i had been eating this kind of yogurt a lot..not the activia kind a different kind..and i thought i was doing something good for my body...i was so wrong on so many levels! the yogurt iwas eating was full of sugar! activia is also loaded with sugar!! i was about to buy activia...cuz u know their advertising was nice..and itlooked healthy. until i read the ingredients, everything went down hill. yes it may have live bacteria...if it has a certain kind of live bacteria in it, then please tell us which bacteria is it...if its l.bacillus, or acidophillus, then thats nothing. just about EVERY yogurt has that. the yogurt im eating is by Danon, and it called Light and Fit...it has sugar in it..but only like 2 grams...and its 2 grams of NATURAL sugar.if on the ingredients it says sugar, then that means they ADDED that sugafr. so yeah..and it has 3 grams of carbs, no fat, and it has protein. and its only 60 calories a cup.when i first triedit, it tastedd weird cuz it didnt have sugar in it...so i added like a spoonful, i know, bad me. lol but after a week...it tastes sweet enough, lol it tastes good, and i dont need to add sugar. i like the blueberries and creme, and the strawberries and creme, and the vanilla and creme is okay...ilike it, but i dont think i will buy it, for some reason when i eat a whole cup i tend to feel sick, its the same way with choclate after eating a tiny bit, i feel sick. so yeah...maybe try the yogurt im eating.

They have a new non fat activia, it does not come in all flavors, but it has a big "Light" on the package. Don't know about the other things you asked but thought I would tell you about the non fat version.

I bought a whole pack of Activa a while ago. I should have read the label in the store! When I finally did, after eating most of that big discounted pack, I saw that it's loaded with sugar! It's actually not healthy at all. I thinkg that the sugars override any effect that any add. bacteria might have.
Brilliant deceptive marketing though, I have to give them that.I try to stay with plain yogurts. They have the live bacteria. If I feel like having a fruity yogurt then I just get the full-blown normal stuff. None of that no fat/low fat stuff. Because those have artificial sweeteners and that's just all bad for your body.I recently tried a Greek yogurt. It tastes great! Many stores carry is now. And even the 0% version tastes like a full-fat version. It's amazing. It's called Total Fage yogurt.

I think it's a great marketing gimmick. This bacteria is supposed to regulate one's digestive and waste system so it works better. Well, I've not had yogurt in almost three years and I have no problems in that area. The commercials I've seen have been about people (women, I guess that is their target market) who have had irregularity from poor diet and poor self-care. Imagine that. My diet is not poor. I get plenty of fiber and I eat whole foods. I notice this seems to be pushed more after the National Dairy Council, or whatever it is, pulled their ads abecause they were found out that their weight loss claims were fake. (I lost weight AFTER I elimited dairy from my diet and I wasn't trying to do so.)I did notice the sugar content in one once and was quite shocked at the amount of sugar in the teeny tiny cup. With all the other stuff added to yogurt (long before it's even yogurt or pasteurized milk), I don't consider it healthy at all. (Never mind it's made from a product that is naturally intended for calves.)This is just my opinion.
I think Activia is a bunch of crap, like you said... other yogurts have the bacteria too.
