what expenses should i be aware of prior to signing up for a
membership at 24 hour fitness? i'm in the st. louis area.

Don't Worry...theye are nothing like Bally's.PEOPLE BE AWARE THAT BALLY'S WILL RIP YOU OFF AND SCREW YOU OVER...CHECK IT OUT ON THE WEB...MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WAY BALLY'S SIGN PEOPLE UP...
as far as 24 hour fitness goes, they are pretty much straight up, just be sure that you take the month to month and NEVER SIGN A CONTRACT FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME NO MATTER WHAT!!This is how Bally's screwed me and many other people over ( no matter how sweet the deal)...
24 Hour Fitness pretty much tells the truth, but, one problem I had with it was that you can only go to one club, or you have to pay a ton more for nation wide access. I now go to LA Fitness, and I can go to any club in my state for 25 dollars a month, instead of paying all that money for something i dont need.
